How to Prepare Your Home for Viewing
Spring is a common time for sellers to put their house on the market, with the hope to be able to move home in the lighter and brighter summer months before the start of the next school year, but with how can you make your house stand out from the crowd? Check out our top tips on how best to present your property to a potential buyer.
Declutter
Storage is an important factor for a potential buyer. If your home is overcrowded with personal possessions, then you could be giving the buyer the impression that your home does not offer enough space. Try to sort through your belongings before the estate agent takes any photographs to advertise your home, as this will greatly increase the sense of space in your property and also help you to consolidate before moving.
Neutralise
Remember that a potential buyer needs to feel like your house could be their home and not every viewer will be able to visualise how your space could become theirs. Try where possible to neutralise your décor and store any personal items such as family photographs out of sight, as this could help your viewers to visualise their own family and belongings in the space.
Spring Clean
A clean and well-maintained space helps a buyer to feel at ease when viewing your house. It is worth giving your house a thorough clean before your viewings and don’t forget to wipe over tactile surfaces such as kitchen worktops, door handles and taps to give a sparkling finish. Check the guttering is clear and de-weed the drive, as it is these little touches that enable the buyer to check that these key areas are in a good state of general repair.
